Rachael Cerrotti
Rachael Cerrotti is an award-winning writer, curator, podcaster, educator and speaker. Through an interdisciplinary practice, she explores stories rooted in the humanity of grief and inherited memory. She is the former Inaugural Storyteller in Residence for USC Shoah Foundation and is now a fellow with The Witness Institute, joining an international cohort of leaders exploring how to build communities of moral reflection. She is also a Us@250 fellow at New America where her storytelling work is being supported as part of the efforts to commemorate America’s 250th anniversary. She currently produces and hosts Along The Seam, a conversational podcast about the complex and often times paradoxical self as it relates to our family histories and collective memories.
Every year, Rachael brings her flagship project We Share The Same Sky into communities and classrooms worldwide. She has presented, taught and led workshops for thousands of people ranging in age from adult education to as young as fourth grade. She has spoken at embassies, universities, museums, public schools, a wide variety of congregations and organizations, and with interfaith centers. She leads programming that encourages us to look deeper into our family histories and consider how the past plays a powerful role in our present. Her expertise is in Holocaust history, with a specialized focus on intergenerational storytelling and the power of individual acts of kindness. The specific history she most often speaks about is the 1943 rescue of the Danish Jews. Following in her grandmother’s footsteps (who has a Holocaust survivor and public speaker), Rachael emphasizes the power each of us have to write our own story.
Rachael offers a variety of programming from scholar-in-residence programs, to writing workshops, to art-based history projects.
